Gumbubble

Gumbubble is a manga-influenced comic, drawn and written by Mik Holmes. The comic revolves around the life of Mik and Mel, two teenagers in highschool living together in a complex. The reason why a teenage boy and girl live together is not given.

The Creator

Mik Holmes lives in Victoria BC, although he doesn't really have any relationship with the rest of the Loading Ready Run cast. He lurked on the forums and asked to write a comic for the site, and they let him.

Main Characters

Mik Holmes: 17 years old. Based on the author. He lives in a small complex with Mel. Mik is very much into video games and anime, and fantasizes about being a video game maker one day. He doesn't seem to have much shame. Mik is confused about his sexuality, more attracted to men then women, although he can't give up boobs altogether. Mik and Mel are in grade 12, and attend Reynolds Secondary.

Mel Kingston: 17 years old. She is also quite interested in video games and anime, although not to the exstent that Mik is. She enjoys writing and wants to write a series of books one day. She practices her writing in the form of homo-erotic fanfiction. Her hair is naturally a very dark black that seems to be purple in the light, although she dyes it to be more purpley. She also dyes her pigtails pink.

Paul Saunders: 18 years old, recently graduated high school. He is one of Mik's closest friends, and they share many of the same intersts in games and anime. He is living with a group of his friends in an apartment building. He isn't sure what he wants to do with his life. He thought about being a cook, but he can't even make hot dogs. Paul is an incredibly kind and warm person and often is called upon to cheer up his friends.

Dmitri Dalheim-Baeza: 17 years old, goes to school with Mik and Mel. At school, Mik, Dmitri, and Jenny often hang out together. Dmitri is quite talented with computers, often getting himself into trouble on the school's network. While he likes to be a trouble-maker, he is not a malicious person; in fact he is quite a righteous person.

Jenny Dickenson: 16 years old, a grade below Mik and Dmitri. She is indescribable.

Kelly Lane: 16 years old. She recently moved to Alberta with her parents. Before, she used to hang out with Dmitri, Jenny, and Mik. She is quite loud and outspoken; she will say whatever is on her mind. Currently she converses with her old friends through MSN.

Brendan Munro: 17 years old, a friend of Mik's. He is very intelligent, and is the smartest in the group by far. He is quite talented at making puns. This is not a good thing, by the way. He is interested in computer and video games, and has been in karate for many years.

Tyler Krenbrink: 17 years old, he, Brendan, and Mik are a tight group of friends. Tyler is quite silly and not always too bright. He forgets to think before he acts. Despite this, Mik calls him "Sensei". Tyler is quite sex-obsessed.

Secondary Characters

Robbie Piercy: The person that Mel works with is based off of the real life Robbie Piercy.

Trivia

• Originally this was a joint project between Mik Holmes and Tyler Krenbrink, however due to unforseen circumstances, the partnership fell through.
• Every character in Gumbubble is based on a real life person, with the exception of Mel. The world in Gumbubble is supposedly based on the real world with the single difference that Mel exists. The characters are usually overdone versions of the real people.
• "Mel" has various reincarnations in Mik's other projects, usually as a pirate.
