Synopsis

Bill and Morgan are depressed at their recent DotA defeat at the hands of Jeremy. So much so that they are disinclined to join Matt at a World of Warcraft LAN party being hosted at James’ house. Intent on revenge, they are struck by inspiration when Matt mentions Jeremy’s Dungeons and Dragons session that evening and manage to warp a handful of dice they found in their couch in the microwave to roll only ones.

Meanwhile Graham, Kathleen, Jeremy and Paul are enjoying some coffee before Kathleen leaves for Vancouver. Jeremy is informed that his habit of putting milk in his green tea is unlucky but brushes off the comment and heads off to get ready for his D&D group, whose characters Graham points out Jer routinely attempts to slaughter, while Kathleen pokes fun at the others for their role playing past.

At James’ house everyone begins to arrive while Adam and Ben have already set up. James excitedly explains to Matt the ridiculously convoluted method he used to acquire a new iPhone to replace his broken one that is being shipped to him. Matt casually pulls his own brand new iPhone, replacing the one he broke just a short while ago, and asks for James’ new number, having simply told Apple support that it just stopped working. Matt also explains that his shipping box for his replacement Xbox arrives that day. An enraged James lets Matt get eaten by a frost walrus (in the game… but that would have been cool).

Bill and Morgan have put their plan into action by breaking into Jer’s apartment and sabotaging his dice. They steal away as Jer returns home to unknowingly grab the trick dice and quickly head off to his campaign session while the duo wait for their revenge plan to take hold.

Back at the LAN party Paul excitedly enters declaring that he made Matt’s Xbox better and reveals to him the NESBox, an Xbox capable of only play NES cartridges, much to Matt’s horror and James’ glee. They begin trying out several conveniently located games, eventually playing a D&D game that segues nicely to…

Jer’s D&D group is just getting started on their latest adventure in which he plans to kill them and drive them insane with a deadly mummy dragon. Despite his best efforts at prolonging the encounter his dice roll nothing but ones missing all his dragon’s attacks, dealing negligible damage, and results in the dragon’s tragic self-decapitation and Jer questioning his luck.

James’ is now trying out Paul’s NESBox, while Matt glowers, and recounts his recent iPhone misfortunes and Graham’s inability to help due to having given his notice at Neighborhood Wireless. Paul informs the guys that Graham didn't give his notice like he previously indicated, but was actually fired for attempting to sneak/steal from an elderly customer Fallout 3 style. Graham has actually been attending line dancing classes, explaining the cowboy hat and possibly the track suit he’s been wearing everywhere.

Graham is wearing said outfit at one of his “thinking spots”, an archway where he stands with his nose to wall, when Jeremy stumbles by in horror of his terrible luck. Graham once again suspects that adding milk to the green tea has cursed him. Just then Bill arrives knowing he would find Graham there and begins to explain how he and Morgan sabotaged Jeremy’s dice, oblivious to Jeremy standing right next to him.

After the credits Kathleen receives a phone call from Jeremy explaining the dice tampering situation to her. She prepares for war!

Trivia

  • This video was originally planned for the previous week (December 2), but Desert Bus interrupted the shooting of some scenes, postponing the video.
  • Some of the shots of rolling all 1's were split-screened together from continuous attempts to roll 1's.
  • The music in the background of Paul's explanation of "pwn" was composed for LoadingReadyLabs, and was most famously used in How to Talk like a Pirate.
  • Paul doesn't call Graham out on going to work in the cafe scene because he's covering for him in front of Kathleen (Reference)
  • Spot the Dog appears on top of Adam's monitor during the LAN scene.
